The media is a frontline in the war on drugs
To change the world we need to change the way the media reports on drugs and people who use drugs; and with that slowly comes changes in society's perceptions. Here, the Norwegians activists get their message across.
Challenging the myths
It is part of user activism to challenge the myths associated with drugs and drug use and to ensure people have access to accurate information. In this way, people are able to make the best decision with the right information, when it comes to drug use.

Im a Peer Educator
The Swedish Drug Users Union, the national organisation that links a number of drug user unions across Sweden, the largest and first to launch was the Stockholm Drug Users Union. A great example of a union boxing clever - despite being up against one of the most conservative governments in Europe on drugs, smart partnership working and knowing when to push the line -the Swedish union members have made incredible inroads into Swedish policy over the last decade, while the Stockholm Drug Users Union forced Sweden to accept needle & syringe programmes and wider access to OST. A terrific union for ideas, a visit their unions, learn from their successes and their travails! The T-Shirt 'I'm a Peer educator' is from their Drugs Academy, a yearly event where activists come together, learn about the movement, harm reduction and health, how to strategise and promote the cause.
Opiate Substitution Treatment
This is a box of French morphine capsules (slow release) sometimes offered to dependent opiate users. It is essential that opiate users have access to a range of opiates, not only methadone and buprenorphine, but morphine, diamorphine, injectables, patches, linctus etc.. We need more research on alternatives to the basic methadone and buprenorphine. There are many issues connected to OST provision -what is your countries main problem? Choice? Access? Dosage? Start organizing -reach out to your European comrades! Research more treatments, include PWUDs centrally in the research.
