Project Manager: Lynn Jefferys

Project Objective:

  • To build the capacity of 6 country drug user organisations through a combination of drug user development grants and technical support provided in two-year cycles.

  • To draw out learning from the experiences of the grantees and to support the sharing of learning between the different grantees and technical coaches.

Project Description:

The Drug User Organisation Development Project (DUO-DP) is EuroNPUD’s flagship project that supports the development of drug user organisations in the European Union and its neighbouring countries. DUO-DP supports up to 6 drug user organisations in each two year cycle. Grantees receive 3 types of support - an annual grant of €1250, 3 days technical support each year, and peer support between the grantees.  DUO-DP is typically a two-year grant cycle so grantees can receive the stated drug user development grant and technical support each year. DUO-DP is a bottom up programme so groups are able to define how they spend their grant and select their preferred technical support coach. DUO-DP grantees have used the programme to build national drug user networks, run drug checking initiatives, support a mobile drug consumption room, and to mobilise womxn who use drugs. Grantees will be expected to have successfully completed one of EuroNPUD smaller grant projects before being able to apply for DUO-DP.

DUO-DP is project managed by EuroNPUD’s Operations Manager.  DUO-DP is funded by the Robert Carr Fund and one two-year DUO-DP programme is included in each 3 year RCF funding cycle.
